A truly exceptional garden isn’t defined by the plants alone. It’s defined by the architecture that gives it structure, purpose and permanence.
At JMK Oak Frame, we believe an oak garden structure should never feel like an accessory. It should feel as though it has always belonged. Whether it’s an elegant pergola framing a terrace or a fully vaulted pavilion designed for year-round entertaining, every commission is individually designed to complement both the property and its landscape.

More Than a Garden Structure
Many off-the-shelf pergolas are built to provide shade.
A bespoke oak structure should do far more.
It should create a destination within your garden.
A place where family gather for summer evenings.
Where outdoor kitchens come alive.
Where winter fires burn beneath a vaulted oak roof.
Where architecture and landscape become one.
The finest gardens deserve architecture that adds lasting value to the home, not something that simply fills a space.
Designed Around Your Property
No two homes are the same, so neither should their oak structures be.
Every commission begins with a considered design process, carefully balancing scale, proportion, sightlines and materials to ensure the finished building feels completely natural within its surroundings. Rather than forcing a standard design into your garden, we create something that responds to the architecture already there.
This is why our projects never look like catalogue products.
They feel commissioned.
Because they are.
Traditional Timber Framing That Will Outlive Trends
The way an oak frame is built matters just as much as how it looks.
Every JMK structure is handcrafted using traditional timber framing techniques, with mortise and tenon joints, interlocking jowl posts, dovetailed connections and solid oak pegs replacing visible steel brackets wherever possible. Each frame is dry assembled in our workshop before installation, allowing every joint to be refined before it reaches site.
It’s a slower process.
But quality always is.
These centuries-old methods allow the oak to move naturally as it seasons, creating structures that become stronger and more beautiful with age.
Luxury Outdoor Living
Today’s gardens are no longer just somewhere to sit.
They’re extensions of the home.

Our clients commission oak pavilions for outdoor kitchens, dining terraces, covered seating areas, garden lounges and entertaining spaces that can be enjoyed throughout the seasons.
Features can include:
Fully vaulted oak roof structures
Traditional cedar shingle or slate roofing
Outdoor fireplaces
Integrated lighting preparation
Red cedar cladding
Bespoke oak joinery
Contemporary architectural detailing
Every project is tailored to the lifestyle of the people who will use it.
Built Around Your Vision
Some clients arrive with architectural drawings.
Others simply know how they want the space to feel.
Our role is to guide the design from concept through to completion, creating a structure that belongs to both the property and the landscape. Every commission is individually specified rather than selected from a standard range.

A Collection of Bespoke Designs
Our portfolio ranges from elegant open pergolas to substantial oak pavilions.
The Dorridge introduces rhythm and architectural presence without enclosing the garden.
The Richmond creates a natural gathering place beneath an open vaulted roof.
The Lavender blurs the boundary between home and garden, creating an outdoor room that feels warm, sheltered and inviting.
The Thorpe is designed as a permanent architectural pavilion, complete with traditional oak framing and substantial detailing worthy of a country estate.
Each follows the same philosophy.
Honest materials.
Timeless proportions.
Traditional craftsmanship.
A Bespoke Investment
Every project is individually designed, but as a guide:
Oak pergolas typically start from around £15,000–£25,000
Garden pavilions range from approximately £26,000–£80,000+
Signature architectural concepts begin from around £26,000
Fully bespoke commissions are individually priced following consultation.

We also offer a bespoke design service for £950, which is refunded against the final invoice should you choose to proceed with the project.
Crafted in Leicestershire. Built for Generations.
Every oak frame begins life in our Leicestershire workshop before being handcrafted, dry assembled and prepared for installation by our own team. This gives us complete control over quality from the first cut through to the final oak peg.
We don’t build temporary garden features.
We create permanent architectural additions that mature beautifully with time, adding character, enjoyment and lasting value to your home for generations to come.
